Claude Certified Architect – Foundations is Anthropic's technical certification for scoping and designing Claude-based solutions. It launched in March 2026 as the first certification in the Claude Partner Network.1
The launch announcement described partner availability. Anthropic Academy now publishes a registration page and price, but candidates should confirm current account and eligibility requirements during registration.2

Agent architecture and MCP make up 45%. Claude Code, prompting, and context still account for 55%, so API-only or Claude Code-only experience is insufficient.2

Despite the Foundations label, this is not a general end-user introduction. It targets roles that choose among production architecture tradeoffs.

Use the exam guide as the source of truth¶
Download the official guide and map experience to each domain objective. Unofficial question banks can preserve old names and retired behavior.
Build one small system¶
Create a compact agent that includes:
- Structured output
- Separate read and write tools
- MCP or a custom tool
- Permission confirmation
- Success, failure, and cost logging
- Evaluation cases
Implementation exposes boundaries that multiple-choice memorization hides.
Inspect Claude Code configuration directly¶
Verify permissions, setting sources, project instructions, hooks, and Skills, including precedence and safety boundaries.
Practice 60 questions in 120 minutes¶
The average is two minutes per question. Practice deferring difficult items and extracting requirements and constraints from English scenarios before reading every detail.
How durable is the credential?¶
The certification is part of Anthropic's partner strategy. In June 2026, Anthropic reported more than 40,000 Partner Network applications and more than 10,000 certified consultants. Certified practitioner count is an explicit Services Track criterion.3
That gives the credential direct operational value inside partner firms. For an individual, its strongest value is the structured cross-domain study of agent design, permissions, evaluation, and cost.
The credential expires after 12 months, and product behavior changes quickly. Continued documentation review and implementation experience remain necessary after passing.
